Trading for a Part Time Job

Hello Jordan, I hope all is well for you.  I know the conquer and spec are going very well,  so well that there are times I feel as if I know what I'm doing .

First let me preface this by saying that I am not getting ahead of myself  and realize that I am still very new to this.  I simply want to continue in the right direction.

I have been wanting to ask you some question about trading for a part time job.  I don't think I'll ever leave the fire dept. with such a favorable schedule(24hr on/48hrs off--work one day off two days) for my goals.  But I do have a strong desire to trade as my second job and provide income.  I know I have touched on this before with you but this is a little more specific.

How should one set up an account(s) to draw from.  Lets I want to trade an account to provide income.  I also want an account to simply grow for the future.  I obviously want to maximize both but is this as simple as trading both accounts separately and drawing from one  and not the other.  Do you trade one acct and draw only so much.  I hope this question is understandable for I'm not really sure how to ask what I want to know.

I just want to structure the accounts in a way that will allow me to maximize growth and income.

Thanks for the time Jordan and you are a blessing to me and my family.

Thank you for this kind note, it is wonderful to hear that you are making money and most importantly are beginning to feel that you are knowing what you are doing. For such a short time period this is amazing.

I don't feel like you are getting ahead of yourself (mainly because you noted that you are aware it could sound like it!) and this is a very good question for making sure you are continuing in the right direction. As a matter of fact it is such a good question and so important for forming the correct mindset to becoming a successful trader I am going to post this for all.

As always I am going to guide you to what is best for you to achieve the goal at hand (making you a trader) as opposed to what you might want to hear. Beginning with the group you are making trades, making profits and learning how to trade in the process. This alone is priceless. Finding me and the group has both it's positives and negatives as a new trader or newbie as some like to say. On the positive side this is simply the best place you can be. Good people who trade profitable and welcome all good people regardless of their trading ability. On the negative side if you are a new trader you might have no idea how incredible difficult trading would be on your own. Over 95% of traders lose money consistently in the markets. You just might not have any idea of just how much of learning to be a profitable trader can be walking into an environment where you can make money from the start. This is a rare opportunity for sure!

Right now I want to see you following exactly what we are doing without thinking about withdrawing income only growing your account until you are at a place where you know how much money you can withdraw weekly or monthly without having to ask. Then you are ready.

Here is the best way to structure our total account to maximize our growth and income.

Here is also some chat from today that also gives further perspective on this. Not regarding part time trading but rather trading full time.

[16:47:45] andy: what would you guys/girls would say is a reasonable return in terms of pips per week - what would be aiming for?
[16:48:49] jordan: i think that is the wrong focus. The right focus is just doing what you should be doing day in and day out and then let the pips shows up weekly/monthly.
[16:49:29] jordan: when you are playing golf and focus on what score you want to have, you wind up shanking shots all day. When you are out there and playing in the moment, this is when you are breaking 90
[16:50:36] jordan: mindset is so important as a trader. Detachment. this means taking our trades and worrying about nothing else.
[16:52:27] andy: I don't disagree - just trying to figure out if I could quit work and try this full time with the size of starting account I would have
[16:54:11] jordan: you can't yet. You can go full time when you don't need to figure it out because it is a known.
[16:55:18] jordan: otherwise you will under pressure abandon the rules and blow yourself out. You need to be in a secure place. And that might mean working a little longer than you like (so your account can continue to grow while you are not withdrawing funds for income)
[16:56:34] jordan: some feedback, is what I am saying making sense?
[16:56:47] giovi: agree
[16:56:57] andy: I agree 100%..
[16:57:25] andy: i would never put myself under pressure to live of my profit..i would make sure i had 3-6 months cash flow which was separate
[16:57:42] jordan: okay, you all know I only have your best interest at heart. I am not here to say what you want to hear only what is going to get you where you want to be. Awesome andy.
[16:58:19] andy: but still - if i take that time away from work , find out i only make 50pips a week and that isn't enough to sustain the life style i want
[16:58:42] andy: i have to look for a job again, and in today's market that may prove difficult
[16:59:56] giovi: to have a decent life you must be able to collect from your account 10.000 $ per month
[17:00:04] jordan: truth is if you have a job that allows you to trade with us (and everyone is able to trade at least 4 hr) there is no reason to be in a rush to give up that income. Fact of the matter is you will only reach your ultimate goal quicker w/ the extra income.

Forex Dashboard | Forex Market Watch Dashboard

[andy] i really like the idea of that was discussed yesterday of a wiki stylen dashboard of drop'ins /zero crosses etc

[17:35:26] jkapf: jordan... is there a way to create a kind of wiki style dash board where members of the group can update a dash board with possible trades to watch out for?
[17:36:31] jordan: yep, I will email this note to myself and figure it out
[17:37:06] jkapf: this would allow the group to monitor multiple pairs and offer to develop a trade monitoring tool.
[17:37:45] jkapf: as a group we can spot multiple opportunities easier
[17:38:52] jordan: that's a good idea, very helpful/useful to all
[17:39:08] jkapf: ideally with rss, so you can keep updated easily...
[17:47:09] giovi: must be a private place ,only for members
[17:48:47] jkapf: in the table we can have drop downs where we select entries such as "4h drop in approaching"... must be shorter somehow
[17:48:52] giovi: 8 much better
[17:49:44] jkapf: we just change the predefined drop down entries and can have a simple quick overview of the market before checking in Metatrader the actual situation.
[17:50:01] jkapf: table should also state the time/date of the last update.
[17:50:11] jkapf: and by whom...
[17:50:52] giovi: EURO, GBP, CHF, USDJPY , AUD , EURJPY, GBPJPY, CAD
[17:52:32] jkapf: about the different statuses for the drop down table entries, I am not so sure yet. ZLC & Drop In approaching. Maybe just limiting to 4h for a start.
[17:53:29] jkapf: this would allow us as a group to monitor market developments round the clock.
[17:54:04] giovi: and share our job to watch the charts
[17:56:28] giovi: and to go in this page we must have a pass and user name
[17:57:11] giovi: like here
[18:00:51] stevied: wow, this sounds like an awesome brainstorming session. this idea sounds great. I don't have much to offer(knowledge wise) but love to help in anyway I can
